Alvin Chingcuanco (Valedictorian, Class of 2014) has demonstrated endless drive and a special talent for leadership throughout his business career, which has included work with companies like Verizon Wireless and Nestle Health Sciences. According to Mr. Chingcuanco, he nurtured these abilities at ASA College while earning two Associates in Occupational Studies – Medical Assisting and Business Administration. “ASA College opened doors to new opportunities that brought me where I am now,” he says. Currently, he holds an MBA from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management and works as an Agency Project Manager at the marketing consultancy BNO Inc. We couldn’t be prouder of Mr. Chingcuanco, whose guiding principles of passion and excellence were evident even as a one-time member of the Career Services Department. Alvin, you are ASA’s Finest!

“I was fortunate to have started the journey of a thousand miles at ASA. With the needed support I was able to obtain an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies, which not only motivated me to complete a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology from Mercy College, but also a master’s degree in social work (MSW) with a concentration in Advanced Generalist Practice and Programming from Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW).”
Currently, Mr. Braxton is applying his tech-focused degree to care for company network devices that are used in hospitals across the North East. He spends his days actively troubleshooting, servicing, network monitoring and calibrating in a region that spans from New Hampshire to Pennsylvania. Though this work requires great mental fitness, it is not as physically demanding as the work of a field steam engineer. Through his ASA education, he was able to reinvent himself – “I chose a career that requires me to use my brain more than my physical strength” – and now he is working towards becoming a Data Security Analyst.
I have always had a passion to serve people and contribute to their health and wellness. Pursuing my AOS Degree in Medical Assisting at ASA College changed my life and provided me with the opportunity to achieve this goal. I will be forever grateful for the solid education and excellent hands-on-training I received. Now I am certified, gainfully employed and extremely satisfied with my decision to attend ASA College.

For current students, I can tell them to stay focused and continue to study. It is not going to be easy, and sometimes you will want to quit. Though, once you have accomplished your goal, it will make you feel like a new and better person, and you will want more.
