Phi Theta Kappa at ASA College

Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges, as recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges. Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of the two-year college, established in 1918, is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and over 1,200 chapters located in all 50 states and abroad. Membership is based on superior academic achievement and is conferred only by invitation of your local chapter. At ASA College dues paying members are inducted by ceremony into the chapter. Members pledge to uphold the standards of Phi Theta Kappa and to maintain, by honest and independent endeavor, the ideals of scholarship for which this organization stands. Membership in this prestigious honor society affords numerous benefits to its members including thousands of dollars in transfer scholarships offered by more than 700 four year colleges and universities.

During Graduation ceremony at ASA College, Phi Theta Kappa graduates are eligible to wear the Society’s gold silk stole and tassel , will lead all graduates into the assembly area, and will be seated in a special section during the Graduation Ceremony.

Mission

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunities for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship and interest in continuing academic excellence.

ASA College Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is called the Beta Rho Chi Chapter
