Remembering our beloved faculty member, Professor Bonnie Jones.

Professor Bonnie Jones was a respected educator and cherished member of the ASA College family. Her impressive career, range of life experience, and warmhearted disposition made her an ideal professor for our students.

Ms. Jones was originally a performance artist and moved with the grace of one through the hallways of ASA College. She was a trained dancer with a background in jazz and ballet, and a member of SAG-AFTRA. She then transitioned to a new profession, earning her master’s degree in Computer Science. She worked for companies like MITRE (VA) and Pinkerton and began her teaching career with ASA as a professor of mainframe programming in 1986. For students who were trying figure themselves out and imagine a future for themselves in the tech field, Ms. Jones’ guidance and personal experience were incredibly valuable. Her faculty evaluations and proud graduates were a testament to her subject-matter knowledge and dedication.

Over the years, she became an indispensable member of the faculty, as Tatyana Feofilaktova, Chairperson for the Division of Engineering and Technology said, “Our team won’t ever be the same without her. Bonnie will always be in our hearts and memories.” Her junior colleagues, like professor Alex Rodriguez, spoke to the many ways she positively impacted the team, saying, “In the time that I have been working at ASA College, I can attest how dedicated she was to her job as a teacher and to her students.

She was a very good role model to other professors like me, and everyone that had the opportunity to work with her.” ASA College offers its heartfelt condolences to all who knew Ms. Jones, and we thank her, sincerely and deeply, for her contributions to our educational mission and students’ lives.

Remembrances from Colleagues:

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of a warm, compassionate, and talented faculty member, Ms. Bonnie Jones. She was a mentor, a professor, and a friend that I will always remember fondly. We have lost one of the best professors – one whose love of learning, and love of learners, enabled her to accomplish the love of bringing those first two loves together. Ms. Bonnie Jones will forever remain alive in our hearts. I want to express my condolences to her family.”
