Four Avengers Sign With Division I Schools Today

Four members of the ASA College football team signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at NCAA Division I institutions. Today was the junior college Signing Day for Division I schools. The four student-athletes join an already large and growing list of former Avengers in the Division I ranks including Desmond Hollin who will be playing in the Vizio National Championship on January 6th.

Cory Johnson (DL)- University of Kentucky: The sophomore defensive tackle and Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American from Chambersburg, PA was a nightmare for offensive lines and quarterbacks alike in his two seasons playing for ASA. He would finish the 2013 season leading the Avengers in tackles with 49 including 15 for a loss, good for third in the Northeast Conference. He is the fourth Avenger to go on to play in the Southeastern Conference, considered the strongest football conference in Division I football.

Alexander Ajanaku-Wells (DB)- Temple University: The sophomore defensive back and First Team NJCAA All-American from Baltimore, MD anchored a secondary that only allowed 112 passing yards per game. Always in or right around every play, Alex finished second on the team in tackles with 45 including two for a loss. His big plays included two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and three interceptions. He would score on two of the fumble recoveries and one interception. He is expected to be much a welcomed addition to the FBS school in Philadelphia, PA.

Rotchill Medor (OL)- Monmouth University: The sophomore tackle and All-Conference performer from Brooklyn, NY has been an important part of the ASA offensive line for the past two seasons. He spent a Fall at Southern Connecticut State University out of Lincoln High School before coming back home to Brooklyn. Through a lot of hard work, Medor transformed himself physically into a Division I athlete and is expected to play a big role in Monmouth’s success next season in West Long Branch, NJ.

Ross Williams (DL)- Monmouth University: The sophomore defensive lineman from Jacksonville, FL will join fellow Avenger, Rotchill Medor, in Long West Branch, NJ for the next two years. A regular contributor on a strong defensive line for the Avengers this past season, Williams made a start in the Avengers’ Carrier Dome Bowl Game win almost a month ago.
