BROOKLYN, NY — For the first time in program history, the ASA College Football program will enter their season as a ranked team.
ASA was tabbed 10th in the NJCAA Preseason Top 20 Poll, which was released on August 13. ASA (9-1) finished its 2012 campaign with an undefeated 9-0 regular season record and unblemished 5-0 Northeast Football Conference mark en route to the program’s first-ever conference title and bowl game appearance in the inaugural Carrier Dome Bowl. The team peaked at No. 3 in the polls last year before settling at No. 5 at the conclusion of the season.
The Avengers were one of three one-loss teams to make the top ten of the poll and represented one of two NEFC teams to be recognized, ranking ahead of No. 13 Nassau Community College. ASA and Nassau will face off in the final conference game of the season on November 9th.
ASA will open the 2013 season with a road contest against the Widener University JV team on September 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
