Two-Part City Gridiron special shows ASA’s nationally ranked, bowl bound junior college football program

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Feb 18, 2013 – ASA College of Brooklyn, NY, home of New York City’s only nationally ranked football program, was featured in a two-part television special as part of the local NYC series, “City Gridiron.”

The two-part episode followed the Avengers of ASA College – ranked in the Top-5 of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) polls during the 2012 season – as they navigate through an undefeated regular season, earn their first Northeast Football Conference (NEFC) championship, and compete in the inaugural Carrier Dome Bowl at Syracuse University.

The special also took an in-depth look at the coaches, players, and administrators that have helped turn Avengers Athletics into a nationally recognized Division I junior college athletic department in only five years of existence.

Cozzi Pictures, creators of the “City Gridiron” series, have been producing NYC sports content since 2008. When asked about the interest in covering ASA, Executive Producer & Director Adam Salazar said, “doing a feature on ASA College was a logical step for us, after covering New York City high school sports for as long as we have. I am a huge proponent of our city’s athletes and their successes and ASA has provided a place for those athletes to continue their dreams. The partnership was a natural fit.”

Calling All ASA Creative Writers!

Calling All ASA Creative Writers! Dear ASA Students, Back in the old pre-covid days, here at ASA College, we used to come together each year for literary events. Whether we were celebrating Black authors in February or our own students’ creative talents, the spirit and energy of these literary events always captivated our audience, and we believe it is time to resume that creative tradition. We are inviting students to volunteer to join a creative committee to meet on Zoom...
