ASA Transfer Fair- Wednesday
This morning sophomore ASA College running back James Kenner signed a National Letter of Intent to continue with academic and football career at Stony Brook University. Kenner was joined by three other Avengers who all signed with NCAA Division I universities on the mid-year signing day.
Making the switch from safety to running back this season, Kenner did not disappoint running with a purpose on every one of his carries. He finished this past season as the Avengers’ second leading rusher with 676 yards on 88 carries. The Willingboro, NJ native finished the season with eight touchdowns in nine games played.
Kenner will be joining a Stony Brook squad that made a lot of noise amongst FCS schools, advancing to the second round of the playoffs. Kenner will be joined at the Long Island university by fellow Avenger Zedrick Gardner. Former Avenger Malcolm Eugene will also be a part of the Seawolves squad next season.
Defensive back Zedrick Gardner signed a National Letter of Intent to continue with academic and football career at Stony Brook University. Garner was joined by three other Avengers who all signed with NCAA Division I universities on the mid-year signing day.
The Miami, FL native anchored a secondary that was part of an ASA defense that ranked second in the nation in points allowed this past season. Gardner had a great nose for the ball this season finishing with four interceptions to go along with 33 tackles, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and three break-ups. For his efforts Gardner was named to the All-NEFC Defensive Second Team.

Sophomore ASA College defensive lineman Gary Scruggs was all smiles this morning signing a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and football career at Old Dominion University in Virginia. Scruggs was joined by three other Avengers who all signed with NCAA Division I universities on the mid-year signing day.
The Glassboro, NJ native had a very productive career at ASA finishing with 47 tackles (29 this past season) including 18 tackles for a loss (12 this past season) and nine sacks. For his efforts this season, Scruggs was named to the All-NEFC Defensive Second Team. The sophomore defensive end’s satndout performance came against Wagner University’s JV where he returned two fumbles for touchdowns including one for 90-plus yards.
Scruggs joins an ODU program that made an appearance in the FCS playoffs this season. During Scruggs’ year, Old Dominion will be a full-fledged FBS member in Conference USA.
Sophomore ASA College left tackle, Leon Brown, proudly donned his crimson pullover as he signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Brown was joined by three other Avengers who all signed with NCAA Division I universities on the mid-year signing day.
Brown has been a staple on the offensive line since stepping on the field for the Avengers in 2011. The 6-foot-6 315-pound freakish athlete was a huge part of #5 ASA’s perfect 9-0 regular season including the Northeast Football Conference Championship and a bid to the Carrier Dome Bowl played at Syracuse University. Brown was rated the #2 junior college offensive lineman in the country by ESPN and #17 overall.
The Riverdale, MD native will join an Alabama program that has won two of the last three BCS National Championship games and are a heavy favorite to win their third in a couple of weeks.
ASA College is proud to have been the start for these talented young men and wish them the best of luck in the future.
