SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The inaugural Carrier Dome Bowl will feature the NJCAA’s third- and fourth-ranked teams Dec. 1 in Syracuse, N.Y., announced today by the Northeast Football Conference. ASA, the nation’s third-ranked team and Northeast Football Conference champion, will meet Snow (Utah) College, the nation’s fourth-ranked team. The kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Carrier Dome Bowl is only one of two NJCAA bowls being hosted in a NCAA Division I facility.
ASA (Brooklyn, N.Y.), enters the game with a 9-0 record. It will be the first-ever bowl game for the Avengers.
Snow College, champion of the Western States Football League, is 10-1. Snow is located in Ephraim, Utah, and is making its 18th bowl appearance and 10th consecutive. The Badgers have won six of the past eight Top of the Mountain Bowls.
The Carrier Dome Bowl is sponsored by the Northeast Football Conference. In addition to ASA, its members are Dean (Mass.) College, Erie (N.Y.) Community College, Hudson Valley (N.Y.) Community College, Lackawanna (Pa.) College, Louisburg (N.C.) College and Nassau (N.Y.) Community College.
The NJCAA will release the entire 2012 bowl schedule Wednesday.
The Carrier Dome is a 49,262-seat sports stadium located on the campus of Syracuse University (SU). It is the only domed stadium in the Northeast, and is the largest structure of its kind on a college campus in the country.
Since opening Sept. 20, 1980, the facility has hosted a wide variety of events. The facility serves as the home of SU football, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. The “Dome” has hosted numerous rounds of NCAA championships in basketball, lacrosse and track and field and hosts regional and state scholastic competitions in football, as well as NBA preseason games.
Pathways to Success with Assemblymember Walter Mosley Assemblymember Walter Mosley, a former standout collegiate athlete himself, will be giving a speech, “Student-Athletes: Pathways to Success,” at the Brooklyn campus, on Thursday, 11/21, at 6:00pm, in Room P-102 (383 Pearl Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201). Mr. Mosley was first elected in 2012 to represent the 57th Assembly District which includes the communities of Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights, and parts of Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights.
