Brooklyn, NY – The Christian Club held its first major event that the students and faculty advisors called “The Fellowship” last Thursday, November 17, 2011. This fellowship was organized by the members of the club. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, the Christian Club wanted to give thanks for all of their blessings. The student members and the faculty members prepared several dishes for the occasion. Professor Sophie Francis, Division of Health, opened up the conversation with scripture from the Bible. This encouraged the students in attendance to share their stories with the rest of the group. Professor Pastor Cometa, Division of Health, had everyone hold hands while he led them in prayer and in the blessing of the food. Professor Karlene Richardson, Division of Health, shared a heart-felt experience on how the Lord guided her through a journey that got her to where she is today. Her story described severe hardship, homelessness and hunger, but she survived. Her story touched many of our students that are living through the exact same experiences. The Christian Club has become a welcome addition to the spiritual and family environment that some students need to support their educational pursuits at ASA College. The students expressed genuine appreciation to the faculty that is involved in this club. The Dean of Students, Dean Jackson, was happy to see how the Christian Club brought 20 students and several faculty members together to support each other in all of their accomplishments.
