ASA ESL Department Receives Thanks from Publisher Pearson

The textbook publisher Pearson just released the 5th edition of its NorthStar textbook series this year. If you open up the NorthStar 3 Listening & Speaking textbook, you will see several ESL department faculty members credited among the book’s reviewers. The department chair, Mila Dragushanskaya, and her instructors, Jeff Gano, Eva Nemtson, Olga Pagieva, Dariusz Saczuk, and Miryam Salimov are all listed. ASA College has the largest number of reviewers among all institutions involved in the creation of this textbook.

“This recognition speaks to both the quality of our faculty and the diversity of our student body,” said Dr. Dragushanskaya. ASA’s student population proudly integrates more than 100 nationalities. As such, our faculty have keen insight to offer about the universal accessibility of the textbook’s approach and content. Dr. Dragushanskaya is pleased with results, noting that the new NorthStar series builds more explicitly upon foundational pedagogical frameworks, likes Bloom’s Taxonomy.

When our students start using the fifth edition of NorthStar textbooks, they will be learning from a text that was designed with their specific needs in mind.
