An Unprecedented Honor, President Valencia Joins FAPSC Board

Dear ASA College Community:

Please join us in congratulating our President, Jose Valencia, who has just been elected as the newest member of the 22-member Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges (FAPSC).  Established in 1956, FAPSC has been working on behalf of  hundreds of degree- and non-degree-granting career schools in Florida.

It is the first time in the 36-year history of ASA College that its President or anyone from its Executive Team has been elected to the Board of any association of schools, colleges, universities, or academic institutions anywhere in the country.  “I am deeply honored and extremely grateful to the FAPSC Board for giving me this opportunity to serve the 250,000 students in 200 occupational fields that the FAPSC serves,” said ASA College President Jose Valencia, who is only the second Ecuadorian American to be a President of an American college or university in U.S. history, the other one being Dr. F. Javier Cevallos, the current President of Framingham State University in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Mr. Valencia joins an august association whose membership includes some notable current and former members. They include Dr. Art Keiser, Chancellor of Keiser University and the current Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality, and Integrity (NACIQI), Peter Crocitto, current Chairperson of Commission of the Florida Department of Education – Commission on Independent Education (FLDOE-CIE), and Nancy Bradley, current Commissioner, FLDOE-CIE.

We are very proud of this significant honor conferred on our leader.
