Accreditation and Approvals

ASA College is authorized by the New York State Board of Regents to confer the Associate of Occupational Studies and the Associate in Applied Science degrees. Our degree and certificate programs are registered by the State Education Department.

ASA College is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org.  ASA College’s accreditation status is Accreditation Withdrawn Subject to Appeal. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on November 11, 2022, was to withdraw accreditation as of March 1, 2023.

MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). 

 ASA College is implementing a teach-out plan as requested by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the adverse action taken by the Commission on November 11, 2022. The purpose of the teach-out plan is to assist students who are near completion of a credential to finalize and complete academic requirements. To assist with the implementation of the teach-out plan, ASA College has entered into teach-out agreements with Berkeley College, NY, Albizu University, FL, Helene Fuld College of Nursing, NJ, Mandel College, NY, Florida Technical College, FL and is working on signing more agreements with other colleges in NYS and FL.

Retention and Disposition of Records 

 

Description of the institution’s plan for the disposition of all records related to the teach-out as applicable:

  1. Student records (admissions, financial aid, academic transcripts, faculty recommendations, final grades).
  2. ASA College currently works with Parchment™ to distribute student transcripts electronically.
  3. The company also offers services to store student transcripts in perpetuity for closed institutions.
  4. ASA has partnered with Parchment™ to upload all student transcripts and diplomas into their database to ensure that it is stored in perpetuity and accessible to all students and graduates of ASA. This information and the links will be available permanently on ASA’s website.
  5. The New York State Education Department has affirmed that, if ASA College is using a digital storage service such as Parchment™, there shall be no requirement for the College to transmit said information to NYSED or to another institution. NYSED does require the access information to all records to be available on their website

 

ASA College’s Associate of Occupational Degree program in Medical Assisting is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs ( www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of Medical Assistant Education Review Board (MAERB).
