Garden City, NY----Last evening the Lady Avengers, defeated TCI 60-55, to remain undefeated in Region XV play and secure themselves as regular season regional champs. Sophomore guard, Denyse Moore (Hampton, VA/Woodside) led the way with 19 points and 5 assists including a couple of acrobatic lay-ups late in the game to help ASA hold onto the win. Freshman forward, Patrice Lewis (Queens, NY/August Martin), added 7 points to go along with her 7 rebounds. However, the hero of the day would be freshman center, Shanade Bernard (Queens, NY/Queens H.S. of Teaching), who would step to the free-throw line with ASA leading 58-55 with 6 seconds remaining in the game, and ice the game by hitting both free-throws.

The Lady Avengers improve to 10-7 with win and make history by being the first ASA team ever to be named regular season Region XV champs. The team will travel up to the Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday (2/20) to play their final game of the regular season. The Lady Avengers will have an automatic bid to the championship game in the Region XV Division I playoffs.
