Dr. Agafonov, ASA Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, receives the Honor
Roll Award from Anna Counts, ACICS Chairperson of the Board.
(BROOKLYN, NEW YORK-) The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), which accredits more than 680 educational institutions throughout the United States and more than a dozen foreign countries, has designated ASA Institute as an Honor Roll Institution and presented the award to ASA representatives led by Dr. Alexander Agafonov, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, at its Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 24, 2008. ASA was also represented by Roberto Dumaual, Vice President of Government and Community Relations.
In its letter congratulating ASA President Alex Shchegol, the ACICS said that “during the recent evaluation for a new grant of accreditation, your institution demonstrated exemplary standards and a clear understanding of the ACICS Accreditation criteria. The Council has recognized this achievement by designating you as an Honor Roll Institution.” This distinction comes after ACICS gave ASA the maximum 8-year grant of accreditation, 2 years more than the usual period.
“This is truly a wonderful achievement and a tribute to the faculty and staff of ASA who work tirelessly everyday to deliver the highest quality of education and services to our students,” Mr. Shchegol said.
The criteria for selecting honor roll institutions is presented in the Summer 2004 issue of the Criterion, an official publication of the ACICS, where it is stated that “it takes more than an understanding of the Accreditation Criteria and evaluation process to be an exceptional institution. It takes dynamic leaders, qualified instructors, motivated students, vision and direction, and of course, appropriate resources.”
