Women’s Basketball Signs First Recruit for the 2010-2011 Season April 8, 2010 ![]() Coach Revell with brand new Lady Avenger, Jakoya Duggans. Brooklyn, NY--- The women’s basketball kicked off the National Letter of Intent signing season with a bang, by signing a player on the very first day of the period. This afternoon, head women’s basketball coach, Adia Revell, proudly announced the commitment of Jakoya Duggans of Clark High School in Roselle, NJ. The 5-9 combo guard put up very stellar numbers as a senior at Clark with averages of 19.0 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, and 2.8 steals per contest (a stat that will most likely fit in with Coach Revell’s focus on the defensive end). The 1,000 point career scorer received multiple post-season honors for her efforts including being named to the All-Union County 1st Team, named to the Union County Coaches Association Top 5, selected to play for the Union County All-Star team, and was named to the 2nd Team for Group II. Duggans is the first recruit to sign with the Lady Avengers thus far. She will join a strong sophomore class that will return three All-Region XV selections. The Lady Avengers finished the season with an 11-8 record, including a regular season championship, and a trip to the Region XV Division I finals in only its first year as an NJCAA affiliated women’s basketball program. |
