Brooklyn, NY--- ASA baseball history was made this afternoon as Jonathan Sanchez (Cotui, DR/Liceo Francisco Carvajal) pitched the first no-hitter in the young existence of the second year program. The freshman owned the mound on the afternoon, pitching all seven innings, striking out fifteen batters, and only allowing one walk. Sanchez got help from the Avengers’ bats as Juan Arroyo (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) hit his seventh homerun on the season. The Avengers would wind up shutting out Globe in Game 1 of the double header 4-0.

Andy Wipp (San Pedro de Macoris/San Esteban) would take the mound for the Avengers in Game 2 of the double-header. Wipp would end pitching six solid innings. Freshman pitcher, Jose Aponte (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) would come in to relieve Wipp and close the game out with final score 9-3. Freshman catcher, Joseph Gerena (Bronx, NY/James Monroe), showed off his power with a homerun in the contest.

The Avengers improve to 15-4 with the wins. Next up: Lackawanna doubleheader at Lackawanna.
