Arroyo and Sanchez Sweep Region XV Player and Pitcher of the Week Brooklyn, NY—This morning Region XV released its first baseball report of the season for week ending March 21, 2010. ASA was represented very well on the first report. Sophomore center fielder, Juan Arroyo (Bronx, NY/James Monroe H.S.), was named Player of Week. Arroyo has put up monster offensive numbers after ten games this season, with a batting average of .583 on 14-24 hitting, including two doubles, three triples, four homers, and 12 RBIs. Arroyo also leads Region XV Division I in stolen bases with 5 on the season. Arroyo is joined on the report by ASA freshman pitcher Jonathan Sanchez (Cotui, DR/Liceo Francisco Carvajal). In the three games he has started so far this season, Sanchez has completely shut down the competition with a 0.00 ERA, only allowing 6 hits, and recording 26 strikeouts. The Avengers have had a great start on the young season as a team. They currently lead Region XV in hitting with 98 team hits with a team batting average of .364.
