Men’s Soccer Improves to 7-6 on Samuels’ 4 Goals


Yesterday afternoon, the men’s soccer team defeated Army Prep on their home pitch by the score of 8-2.  Sophomore forward, Greg Samuels (Brooklyn, NY), had an ASA record-setting day amassing an impressive 8 points on the afternoon with 4 goals. The match never became a contest as the Avengers were able to beat Army Prep to every ball, and scoring on multiple breakaways. Joining Samuels in the goal scoring category were Roland Andre (Freshman/Brooklyn, NY/Classique de Lalve/Midfielder), Gbagba Toe (Freshman/Staten Island, NY/Curtis/Forward), Marvin Buckley (Sophomore/Queens, NY/Martin Van Buren/Defender), and Shane Jeffers (Sophomore/Brooklyn, NY/St. Vincent/Defender). Moussa Kourouma (Sophomore/Bronx, NY/Environmental/Goalie) made 5 saves on the afternoon in 90 minutes in goal.

With the win, the Avengers Improve to 7-6 on the season. Next up for men’s soccer is an away game against the 3rd ranked team in the nation, Mercer College, on Thursday (10/17) at 7pm.
