Dear Graduate:

Your graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday,  July 23, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at The WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden. This letter contains information pertinent to the graduation ceremony. Please contact our Placement department at (718) 522-9800 X 2095 and inform Shantavia Duncan or Lesia Willis-Campbell if you plan to attend.

Please note the following:

  • Starting July 7th through July 20th, 2009, you may pick up your graduation Cap & Gown and admission tickets from Mr. Reginald Gilbert in Room 223 2nd Floor of 151 Lawrence Street, Brooklyn, during the following days and hours:
Monday AND Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday AND Wednesday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

YOU MUST BRING YOUR ASA STUDENT ID WITH YOU!!!

       
  • Your cap and gown will serve as your personal “admission ticket” to the WAMU Theater. You will receive 4 tickets for guests. Your guests need to present their guest tickets to the WAMU personnel at the  Entrance. Security is handled by the WAMU Theater -MSG staff who adheres to very strict security guidelines. Only those with tickets will be admitted.       
  • You must be at the Madison Square Garden Theatre by 4:00 p.m. with your Cap & Gown and admission tickets for your guests. You will receive instructions for the Grand March right there.        
  • A raffle draw will be held after diplomas are given:1st prize Digital Camera; 2nd prize MP3 Player; 3rd prize a DVD Player. Graduates must be present and seated in place to participate in the raffle draw.         
  • The Casandra Edwards Award for Perfect Attendance and Demonstrated Dedication will also be presented during the ceremony.    
  • A photographer will be at the graduation venue. He can take your personal pictures (for a fee) prior to and after the ceremony. No personal picture-taking will be allowed during the ceremony.    
  • A faculty award will be presented to the most popular instructor in your department. As graduates, you will be given an opportunity to vote for your favored instructor(s) when you pick up your caps and gowns. Administrators will not qualify as candidates for most popular instructor.

Again, on or before July 17, 2009, please call our Placement department at (718) 522-9800 X 2095 and inform Shantavia Duncan or Lesia Willis-Campbell if you are attending the graduation, so that we can plan for you and your guests. You may ask any additional questions you have at that time.
