Track and Field: Avengers Complete First Ever Meet with Success

Riverdale, NY----- This afternoon the ASA men’s and women’s indoor track team made history by being the first ever ASA track team to compete at a meet. The team faired very well against athletes from both junior colleges and four-year schools such as host, Manhattan College, St. John’s University, Iona College, and Columbia University.

The men took home first place in the 4x400 for a group event. Individually, freshman sprinter Christopher Winslow (Bronx, NY) finished in third place in the 300m with a time of 38.63 (just missing the meet record of 38.54). He also took second place in the 60m with a time of 7.32. Shortly behind Winslow in the 300m was freshman Chad Elliott (Brooklyn ,NY). Freshman Ramoye Simon (Hollywood, FL) finished second in the 60HH with a time of 8.97 and third in the 60m with a time of 7.32. Freshman sprinter Antonio Hunt (Paterson, NJ) finished fourth in the 60HH with a time of 9.99.

In longer distance events, freshman Dominik Montanez (Union City, NJ) finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:17.20.

For the women, freshman Jessica Morant (Brooklyn, NY) finished fifth in the women’s 60m dash and fellow Lady Avenger freshman Alisia Blackman (Brooklyn, NY) finished in sixth.

ASA will compete in their second meet on December 8th at the Bil Ward/St. John’s Invitational in Huntington, NY.
