| Football: Ten Avengers Named All Northeast Football Conference, Four To First Team November 22, 2011 Troy, NY--- The coaches in the Northeast Football Conference have spoken and ten ASA football players have been named All-Northeast Football Conference, including four student-athletes to the First Team. First Team Honorees | Aaron Fant- Sophomore, Linebacker After a year away from the field, sophomore linebacker, Aaron Fant, was as solid as ever for the Avengers this season. The heady linebacker finished the season with 35 tackles (10.5 for a loss), 2 sacks, and an interception. Fant’s 10.5 tackles for a loss placed in him in the top ten in the category in the conference. The Holy Cross High School (NJ) graduate was named NEFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Hudson Valley on September 10th. |
| Theo Alexander- Sophomore, Defensive Back To say that Theo Alexander made the most of his five games played this season would definitely be an understatement. The aggressive 6-3 rover made a strong statement this season tying for first in tackles for ASA with 41. Alexander was also active in other areas of the defense including a fumble recovery, a pass break up, and two blocked kicks. The St. Louis, MO product was named NEFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Erie on October 22nd. |
| Kreshnik Hakanjin- Sophomore, Offensive Lineman “Niky” Hakanjin finishes his career at ASA as one of the best offensive lineman to take the field for the Avengers to date. The two-year starter rotated around the offensive line filling in any hole needed and became a staple at right guard this season, anchoring ASA’s blocking attack for a rushing offense that finished second in the conference at 205 yards per contest. The Brooklyn native and Fort Hamilton grad will have a number of options in terms of four-year schools upon graduation. |
| Cherchen Aloema- Freshman, Kicker A strong argument could be made that Cherchen Aloema was the best kicker in the conference this season. The Miami, FL product finished second overall in scoring with 49 points He had the most field goals made with ten and the best percentage in the conference with a 71.4 with the most (14) attempts. Aloema was named Special Teams Player of the Week in the NEFC twice during the season. |
