December 1, 2011

BROOKLYN, NY --- The ASA Track and Field program will begin its first NJCAA season this Thursday, December 1st, as the Men’s and Women’s teams compete at the Manhattan College Opener in Riverdale, NY. The Field events will begin at 10:30am and the Track events will begin at 3:00pm.

First-year Head Coach Christopher Mills has assembled a stellar group of student-athletes in a short period of time and expects the program to be competitive early on.

The Men’s team looks to impress and is led by the quartet of Antonio Hunt (Paterson, NJ), Willie Johnson (Paterson, NJ), Christopher Winslow (Mount Vernon, NY) and Ramoye Simon (Hollywood, FL). Johnson and Winslow are projected to lead the sprinters, Hunt will pace the hurdlers and Simon will look contribute with both groups.

The Women’s program is also poised to make waves this season. The team is led by Brooklyn natives Jessica Morant, Kaydee Murrel, and Sharon Williams. The trio, along with the rest of the women’s team, will be representing ASA because of their dedication & persistence after Coach Mills’ initial tryout invitations early in the Fall semester.
