Men’s Basketball: ASA Wins Home Opener; 98-88 Victory Over Nia Prep

Brooklyn Heights- In front of packed house at St. Francis College, ASA and Nia Prep put on an up-and-down show for forty minutes. ASA would defeat Nia 98-88 after an amazing 20-0 run more than halfway through the second half where the Avengers trailed by as many as fifteen with 8:28 left to play. The Avengers improve to 4-3 overall with the win.

ASA’s sophomore guard Sa’Quan Davis (Washington DC) led all scorers with 23 points on 7-14 from the floor and 3-6 from behind the arc. Daquan Brickhouse (Peekskill, NY) had another standout performance and was one of the main components of the comeback, finishing the evening with 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Freshman forward Mike McLeod (Newburgh, NY)[Pictured] finished with another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman swingman Rysheen Dorn (Philadelphia, PA) was also very solid in the starting rotation for the Avengers finishing with 16 points on 7-11 from the field. Freshman guard, Dayvon Whitaker (Poughkeepsie, NY) gave the Avengers a huge spark off of the bench with 11 points in 22 minutes of action.

ASA is scheduled to play at home again at St. Francis College on 12/6 where they will host Nia Prep National. Tipoff will be at 7:30pm.
