ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE DEAN OF STUDENT SERVICES- DEREK JACKSON

ASA College kicked off November by hosting its much anticipated Club Week event from Wednesday, November 2 through Friday, November 4 on the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses.  This event is held the fourth week of every semester to encourage student involvement in groups, clubs and events that are on both campuses. The twelve two-hour sessions (two per day, per campus, for the three days) is sponsored and organized by the Dean of Student Services, Mr. Derek Jackson, along with student representatives from each club and dedicated faculty advisors and staff. The goal of this retention event is to educate and introduce the College’s extracurricular activities and clubs to interested students. As a result of Club Week more than 330 students came out and signed up for Clubs between both campuses. Organizations such as  P.A.S.S. (Parents as Successful  Students), Toastmasters Club, Cheerleaders, The Christian Club , Peers For Careers, The Avengers Newsletter Committee, Nu Alpha Mu Sorority, Salsa Club, Business Club, Criminal Justice Club, Chess Club, Art Club and The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society are examples of the growing services being offered to students. Students are encouraged to join these programs, meet their standards, network with others and continue developing their college experiences. A calendar of events is posted in The Avenger Newsletter with the dates and times of club meetings. Students are always encouraged to join clubs after Club Week, and many do once the clubs are engaged in activities.
