Women’s Basketball: Lady Avengers Roll Over Kingsborough

BROOKLYN, NY --- The Lady Avengers were never tested in the “Battle of Brooklyn” at Kingsborough CC, coasting to an 83-33 victory on Tuesday evening. ASA improves to 2-0 on the season with two very convincing wins on the road.

ASA was led by sophomore center Brittany Webb (Harlem, NY) [PICTURED], who recorded one of three double-doubles for the Lady Avengers with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Webb’s game high was followed by freshman guard Deborah Anderson’s (Tacoma, WA) 16 points and four assists. Anderson also had a game-high seven steals, as she harassed the Lady Wave players on defense throughout the night.

The Lady Avengers used their overwhelming size inside to their advantage. Sophomore forward Tanikqua McFarlane (Queens, NY) and freshman forward Sashana Bucknor (New Haven, CT) each finished with 12 points and 11 boards. Sophomore guard Ashley Watson (Detroit, MI) saw her first game action since December 2010, rounding out the Lady Avengers’ five double digit scorers with 10 points, four assists and three steals.

ASA takes to the hardwood this weekend on a two-game road trip to Maryland, taking on CCBC-Dundalk on Saturday at 4pm and Montgomery-Rockville on Sunday at 1pm.
