October 5, 2011

Jonathan Garcia

Bronx, NY --- The Avengers came out firing this afternoon against Globe, defeating them 5-0 at Macombs Dam Park. Freshman midfielder Jonathan Garcia (Mclean, VA)[pictured] would start the string of goals with his first of three on the day on a successful penalty kick. Freshman forward Jose Herrera (Sterling, VA) scored the second goal of the first half on an assist from Oscar Garcia (Queens, NY).

The Avengers would continue their charge in the second half starting with a goal by sophomore back Ivan Vasojevic (Novi Pazar, Serbia) who has been playing more of a forward role so far this season. The assist would come from Jose Herrera for his third point of the match.

The Avengers improve to 2-3-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in Region XV-Division I play after tying Globe 1-1 in their last contest. The Avengers take the pitch again away at Mercer on Tuesday, October 11th, at 6pm. Mercer is currently on the bubble of being ranked in the Top 20 in the nation.
