Doylestown, PA---- ASA football made history yesterday by fielding a junior varsity team for the first time ever. The Avengers did not disappoint by defeating Delaware Valley's (4-year NCAA) junior varsity 12-0.

After a scoreless first half, ASA would break the tie with 7:36 left in the 3rd quarter on a 35-yard touchdown catch by freshman wide receiver Corey Grant (New Britain, CT) from freshman quarterback Desmond Drumright (Bound Brook, NJ). The Avengers would score an insurance touchdown with 11:23 left in the game on a 70-yard run by freshman tailback Hosey Williams (Miami, FL)[pictured]. Williams would finish with over 150 yards rushing on the afternoon.

The ASA defense was very impressive upfront and in the secondary, shutting out Delaware Valley’s offense. Miles Williams (Lindenwold, NJ) had the` first of four interceptions for ASA. Theo Alexander (St. Louis, MO) would add an interception and freshman defensive back DeVante Waugh (Atco, NJ) finished the game with two picks. Freshman defensive end Gary Scruggs (Glassboro, NJ) was an issue for the Del Valley offensive all afternoon finishing the game with 7 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and three sacks.

The Avengers will be taking on Farleigh Dickinson’s JV this coming Sunday, October 2nd, in Madison, NJ. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.
