Warwick, RI---- The ASA men’s soccer team started off the2011 season with a bang this afternoon with a 2-1 victory at the Community College of Rhode Island. Freshman forward Dorado Phipps (St. Andrew, Jamaica)[Pictured] scored the first goal of the season for the Avengers off of an assist from freshman forward Jose Herrera (Sterling, VA). Phipps would make the stat book again with an assist to sophomore midfielder Seinard Bowen (St. Vincent) for the goal.

Freshman goal keeper Angel Cordero (Brooklyn, NY) would take over in the second half in between the sticks and shut out CCRI.

The Avengers will head south on Saturday, September 17th to Burlington CC (NJ) for their second match of the season. Kickoff is slated for 1pm
