September 8, 2011

Men's Soccer Team

Second year head coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, will have a brand new look for 2011 season with only two (Daniel Oduro and Ivan Vasojevic) players returning from last season. A large group of talented new players join the three veterans; many coming from the New York City area while others travelled from other states such as Virginia and other countries such as France and Jamaica. Sophomore mid, Seinard Bowen, and freshman back, Justin Stapleton, are originally from St. Vincent. Freshman forward, Jose Herrera, and freshman back Eric Rosales, hail from Virginia. Freshman back, Franck Praudel, has come across the Atlantic Ocean from France to become an Avenger. Freshman forward, Dorado Phipps, played his high school soccer in Jamaica. Between the sticks, two local standout freshmen, Kieran Moran, and Angel Cordero will be competing for the starting job.

ASA will open the season with an away game against the Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday September 10th. They will meet regional rival Monroe College at their home on Wednesday September 21st followed by another regional opponent Globe Institute on Saturday September 24th at home. A series of many away game opponents includes Mercer County CC and Essex County CC before returning to home on Wednesday October 26th against Monroe College, which will round out the regular season.
