Criminal Justice Students Get a Point in the Right Direction At Career Seminar

New York, NY —This afternoon the Criminal Justice Department hosted a college/career seminar at the Manhattan campus.  On hand were representatives from multiple law enforcement agencies as well as the military who gave the students present more information about what they do and how to go about applying for a position within that sector.  Chairperson of the Criminal Justice Department, Oscar Odom, shared his own law enforcement experiences going back to his time in the military through the NYPD and eventually earning his Juris Doctorate.

Each speaker stressed the importance of education and the benefits of working in law enforcement.  Following the lectures, representatives from the NYPD, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Juvenile Justice Services, the Sheriff’s Office of New York, and the United States Department of Homeland Security were available for a meet and greet with all in attendance.

The seminar was created to help Criminal Justice students understand the challenges as well as the opportunities there are in the field of Criminal Justice.  It was also intended to help the students understand the importance of high education and prepare them for the real world.
