Men’s Basketball: Avengers Sign Standout North Jersey Point Guard, David Burgos
June 27, 2011 NorthJersey.comBrooklyn, NY---- The ASA men’s basketball team has added another to the “signed list” with the recent addition of Eastside (Newark, NJ) star guard, David Burgos. Burgos comes off of a very stellar senior season where he was named the North Jersey Player of the Year by The Record and the Passaic County Player of the Year by the Star-Ledger. He also led his team to a New Jersey State Championship, the first time a Passaic County public high school has done so in 80 years. The 6-foot lead guard put up impressive all-around numbers with averages of 17 points per game, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Prior to choosing ASA, Burgos was receiving interest from NCAA Division I schools such as Manhattan, Iona, Hofstra, Cal-Irvine, Norfolk State, and Maryland-Eastern Shore. Burgos is no stranger to New York City basketball having played at Wadleigh in Manhattan before moving to Newark, NJ and transferring to Eastside for his senior year. The addition of Burgos will add plenty of depth at the point guard position for 2011-2012 season.
