Baseball: ASA Pitcher, Isaac Gil, Picked by the Tampa Bay Rays in the MLB Draft!

Brooklyn, NY---- This afternoon, former ASA pitching standout, Isaac Gil (New York, NY) , was selected in the 31st round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. This marks the first time a former ASA student-athlete has been picked in a professional sports draft.

Gil had a very stellar season in 2011. He finished the season with a 6-2 record and a 2.17 ERA. For his efforts, Gil was named to the All-Region XV Team. Probably his finest moment at ASA came when it really counted in the Region XV Championship game against Monroe College almost a month ago where he shut them out 4-0 giving up only three hits.
