ASA Throws Victory Day Gala

Brooklyn, NY---- Yesterday evening, ASA hosted a celebration remembering Victory Day, which takes place every year on May 9th.  Victory Day remembers the capitulation of Nazi Germany to end World War II, a war that took the lives of 27 million people in Russia and its surrounding areas.

ASA President, Alex Shchegol, a native of the Ukraine, invited many distinguished Russian speaking community leaders, politicians, and representatives of youth organizations, performers and entertainers.   However, the true stars of the evening were the World War II veterans that attended the event.  It was because of them that Victory and peace was possible 66 years ago.  They were also models for all of the young ASA students that were in attendance.  The evening preached peace and respect for those who came before you.

This was the sixth year ASA has hosted the Victory Day celebration.  It has grown in stature every year since the first. ASA is also the only college in New York that acknowledges the celebration of the Great Victory.
