Baseball: Avengers Split with Monroe to Earn Top Seed in Playoff

Fishkill, NY - The ASA baseball team captured their first regular season championship in only their third year of existence as a program today! ASA split another double-header this afternoon with region foe, Monroe, for the 3-2 head-to-head edge.

Following a heart-breaker in Game 1, ASA would rally in Game 2. Jonathan Sanchez (Cotui, DR) would pick up the win having coming in during the eight inning with a tie ball game. Freshman outfielder Cesar Del(Pictured) (Santo Domingo, DR) would become the hero of the afternoon for ASA having hit a single to get on base to score the inning run just beating the throw from home on a sacrifice RBI by freshman Alex Rodriguez (Brooklyn, NY). The Avengers would pull out the 6-5 victory.
