Baseball: The Avengers Return Home and Continue Winning Ways Against Sussex

After a phenomenal spring training trip in Florida in which the 2011 baseball team finished 12-2 on the swing, the Avengers took care of business in their first home game of the season defeating Sussex CC 10-1.

After giving up a run in the first inning, sophomore pitcher Jonathan Sanchez (Cotui, DR) settled in and dealt. In six innings Sanchez gave up only two hits, both in the top of the first inning, striking out eleven on the afternoon. He would earn the win.

The Avengers started their rally in the bottom of the third inning on a two RBI single by sophomore catcher Alberto German (Santo Domingo, DR) who finished the game 2-3 with a double. Freshman shortstop Yariel Medina (Santo Domingo, DR) finished the game also going 2-3 on the afternoon with a double. Freshman centerfielder Darwin Duran (Santo Domingo, DR) finished the afternoon 2-3 on two singles and two RBIs.

ASA improves to 15-2 on the season. The team will host Ulster CC at Old Boys High on Thursday, March 24th. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm.
