Hagerstown, MD--- After a great run for the Region XX championship, the baseball team’s efforts fell short this afternoon as they were defeated by Potomac State (WV) 12-11 in the championship game of the series. ASA made it apparent that they belonged as they jumped out to a 3-1 first inning lead. Potomac battled back in the second inning scoring a run and eventually taking the lead for good by going up 6-3 on four runs in the third. As they have done all season, ASA would claw their way back to an 8-7 deficit that would grow to 10-7 after a two-run Potomac homer. Even after all of this, the Avengers would not lay down, closing the gap again in the bottom of the 8th inning 12-11.

ASA ended the game with 13 hits including homeruns by Region XV Conference Player of the Year, Juan Arroyo (Bronx, NY/Monroe) and Carlos Ruiz (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech). Every player in the line-up recorded a hit on the afternoon including Carlos Ruiz who went 2-3 with a homer, Joseph Gerena (Bronx, NY/Monroe) who was 2-4, Omar Artsen (Brooklyn, NY/Beach Channel) who finished 2-5, and Samir Imbert (San Francisco de Macoris, DR/San Martin) who was 2-4. Starting freshman pitcher, Michael Avila (Glendale, NY/Aviation) would pick up the loss.

The championship game loss ended a very successful season for the Avengers who finished the season with a 31-12 overall record. For their efforts during Region XX Championships the following players were named to the Region XX Championships Tournament team:
Juan Arroyo So., CF
Samir Imbert Fr., 3B
Omar Artsen So., 2B
