Women’s Tennis Ranked 17th in the Nation

Brooklyn, NY--- Today, the national rankings have been released by the National Junior College Association (NJCAA) and ASA is currently ranked the 17th  women’s tennis team in the nation. This is a great feat for the upstart team that is only its first year as a program under first-year had coach, Richard Bowie.

In addition to the overall team ranking, the Lady Avengers were also represented well in singles and doubles rankings. Freshman Viktoriya Popova (Severdonetsk, Severodonetskaya) took the highest Singles national ranking for ASA at 24th. She is followed by freshman Soizette Simmons (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln) who is currently ranked 36th in the nation and sophomore Margarita Aheychenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Anderson) who is currently ranked 58th nationally. The Lady Avengers also boasts the 15th nationally ranked Doubles team in Soizette Simmons and Simona Mrazova (Bratislava, Slovak Republic/Q.S.I. International School of Bratislava).

The team looks to improve on these rankings as they travel to the NJCAA Nationals in Tuscon, AZ from May 1st to May 6th.
