Network Administration & Security

This program of study is designed for people who plan to pursue careers in network administration and security. They learn to analyze, plan, design, install, optimize, maintain, and administer computer networks and network systems.

Curriculum focuses on hands-on training with a wide variety of current computer network systems, data communications, computer and network operating systems.

Students take courses in computer architecture, hardware, operating systems, network administration and design, network security, wireless systems and database management.

In their 1st year, they study up to the A+/MCP certification level. In their 2nd year, they study up to the MCSA/MCSE/CCNA/CCNP level.

Ultimately, students become proficient at fulfilling system requirements for network and application sharing as well as providing database management support.

Career Opportunities
Graduates are prepared for many careers, some of which are listed here.

The NYS Department of Labor projects that network administration and security professionals will have "very favorable" job prospects through at least 2014.
