Name: Luisa Cortes
My greatest accomplishment was enrolling at ASA. I wanted to be the first in my family to obtain a college degree. The motivation came from not wanting to depend on public assistance for daily living. I majored in Medical Assisting and Medical Billing. Initially I felt starting my education at 43 years of age would be a very difficult challenge to overcome. However, that was not the case. It took a lot of work and dedication. That dedication has paid off…
During my last semester, I became an intern at the company where I am currently employed. My employer, Mr. Jose Buco was really impressed with my performance and strong work ethic. So much so, that he hired me permanently. I have been working for him as a medical office assistant since May 2005. I like what I have accomplished and I thank ASA’s teachers and staff for helping me through this journey in my life. Now I have a college degree and a great job!
My future plan is to obtain a management position within the company and to further my education. I would advise any student to keep on going until goals are accomplished. Even though it may seem impossible to reach, it really isn’t. Work at it and you will see the result, the same way I saw them. If I can do it, you can too! THANK YOU ASA!
