Keisha Allsop Name: Keisha Allsop

I’ve always possessed a passion for helping others. This served as my primary motivation for obtaining an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting.

After being a stay at home mother for several years, I realized that I needed to do something with myself that would position me for a better life for me and my children. I chose ASA because it offered what I needed and an accelerated degree that combines small classrooms and sincere teachers as their success module. The instructors as well as the on- on-one attention I received in the Learning Center were among the best aspects of college life for me during my time at ASA. When asked what challenges I faced, my reply was none at all. I look at challenges as mental obstacles that I pushed to the side. I was always determined to do my best and finish the race!

Obtaining my Associate Degree has taught me that there is nothing I cannot do if I put my mind to it. Based on my experience at ASA, I would like to thank many but I will only name three and they are all women and a gentleman: Ms. Cassandra Edwards, Ms. Gloria Longakit, and Ms. Lesia Willis and Dr. Niles.

After ASA, I enrolled at St. Joseph's College, where I am working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health and Human Services. Ultimately, I would like to work with at-risk youth-- thus, making my contribution to society. My advice to current and prospective students is: “It is worth your time and sacrifice; this move will place you in another career bracket, mental bracket, and social bracket!
