Home > Career Choices > Externships Externships Broaden Your Education Every ASA student pursuing an Associate Degree must complete 1 unpaid externship for academic credit. An externship allows you to apply what you're currently learning in class to a workplace environment directly related to your major. It's also an important opportunity to make contacts and gain work experience in your industry-of-choice, while learning about the daily rewards and challenges of specific careers. The Externship Department will customize your externship based on an assessment of your career and educational goals. Your pre-externship orientation will review: â—Š The application process â—Š Resume preparation â—Š Interviewing skills â—Š Externship requirements and guidelines ASA's experienced externship coordinators provide a safe and educational working environment where you can obtain the skills and additional knowledge you need to succeed. Important: To enroll in an externship during your final semester, you must interview with participating externship companies during the 2nd half or your 3rd semester. The Externship Office is responsible for setting up interviews with off-campus facilities. LOCATION: ASA Externship Department 81 Willoughby St., Room 302 Brooklyn, NY 11201 |
