HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH – ADIA REVELL
Adia Revell begins her fourth season on the sidelines as Head Coach of the ASA Women’s Basketball program.
In two seasons of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competition at ASA (her 2008-09 team competed as a club program), the Brooklyn, NY native has led the Lady Avengers to a 28-21 record, including two Region XV Division I Championship Game appearances (winning in 2011), one District III Division I Championship Game appearance, and a growing list of wins against some of the best competition in the NJCAA.
Some of the program’s key victories include two wins over Monroe College (2011 NJCAA Division II National Champion; ended team’s six-year, 59-game home win streak), two triumphs during a four-game road trip to Florida, a 3rd Place finish in the Genesee CC Holiday Tournament and three regular season wins over rival TCI.
Individual accolades for the program include Coach Revell being named 2009-10 Region XV Division I Coach of the Year, Sophomore Denyse Moore being named Region XV Division I Player of the Year and a Third Team NJCAA All-American 2009-10, and Sophomore Shanade Bernard earning a NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement Award in 2010-11.

Coach Revell has also helped several student-athletes move on to four-year colleges, including Hampton University, Lincoln University (PA), Elizabeth City State University, Ursuline College, and Brooklyn College.
In terms of recruiting, Revell has built an ever-expanding reputation across the nation but is in her prime comfort zone on the New York City basketball scene, having many years of experience as a player and coach. She has played for some of the top girls AAU programs in the city. Most notably, under the guidance of Exodus AAU Coach Apache Paschal, she became the first female player from the club to receive a full-athletic Scholarship from a Division I University.
Revell began her college career at the University of Rhode Island, but the more academically-inclined Revell transferred to Barnard College of Columbia University, and finished off her collegiate basketball career playing in the Ivy League. While at the University of Rhode Island, she was on the Dean’s List, joined the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor society, and made the Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete Honor Roll. Revell graduated with a BA in Psychology from Barnard College of Columbia University. While at Columbia, Revell finished her senior season leading her team in rebounds, steals, while finishing 2nd in points (1 point from 1st) & assists. With the opportunity to play in Puerto Rico upon graduation, she passed on the opportunity to heal a stress fracture that she suffered two months into her senior season.
Prior to ASA, Revell worked in real estate, and has volunteered for numerous youth organizations as a basketball coach and consultant notably: Exodus NYC; Hope4GirlsNigeria; UWantGame; and New Heights NYC. She has also worked with the NY KNICKS as a game day floor director and part-time field-marketing representative.
