Head Coach - Dennis Orlando

Dennis Orland - Head Football Coach at ASA

Dennis Orlando is in the midst of his fourth season as the Head Coach of ASA Football. In the two years prior to this year (2009-10), Orlando led the Avengers to a 12-6 overall record, nearly winning the Northeast Football Conference Championship as an inaugural member in 2010.

Along with the great conference finish, 2010 saw ASA ranked #1 in the country in team defense, allowing only 14.7 PPG. Football alumni made waves after the season as well, with over 15 student-athletes signing to NCAA institutions, including University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), University of Southern Mississippi, Indiana University, Temple University, Bowling Green State University, and University of Southern Mississippi.

Prior to ASA, Coach Orlando made a brief stop at Globe Institute, serving as Defensive Coordinator in 2007.

The bulk of Orlando’s coaching career took place at Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania. From 2000-2003, he served as an Assistant Coach on three very successful Valley Forge teams and was promoted to Head Coach in 2003.

From 2003-2006, Coach Orlando guided Valley Forge to an overall record of 24-4, a conference championship and the school’s first ever undefeated season in 2005. In 2006, Orlando was voted conference Coach of the Year.

Throughout all of Coach Orlando’s head coaching experience, he has been able to produce numerous NCAA Division I players. Among  the schools Orlando’s former student-athletes have played for include The University of Illinois, University of Notre Dame, University of Pittsburgh, Michigan State University, Tulane University, University of Minnesota, North Carolina State University, Akron University, and West Virginia University. He has also developed players that have gone on to play at NCAA Division I-AA, Division II and Division III institutions.

Coach Orlando is a native of Collingswood, NJ. After a stellar prep career at linebacker, Orlando earned an athletic scholarship to play football at Central Michigan University.  In 2000, Orlando earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Rowan University. Coach Orlando currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Offensive Coordinator - Chris Boden

Chris Boden - Offensive Coordinator

Chris Boden is in his third season with the Avengers as the team’s Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach.

For nine years prior to ASA, Boden had been a player and a coach in the Arena Football League, and as the Quarterbacks’ coach at Fordham University.

As a player, Boden was a three-year starter at Quarterback at Villanova University.  He set 24 school records during his career and seven Atlantic-10 marks with the Wildcats. He was named to the Walter Camp All-American team in 1997 and was First Team All-Atlantic 10 from 1997-1999.  He is the school’s all-time leading passer with 868 completions for 10,146 yards and 100 touchdowns. He also became one of twelve quarterbacks at the time in NCAA history to throw for over 10,000 yards and 100 touchdowns in a career.  In addition, he won the 1998 NCAA Division I-AA Ernie Davis Award, given to the player who overcame personal, athletic, or academic adversity to perform in an exemplary manner. In 1999, Boden was awarded the Villanova Male Athlete of the Year and the Philadelphia Amateur Athlete of the Year.

The native of San Clemente, CA set 11 school records at San Clemente High, while also excelling at volleyball.  He earned his B.A. in sociology from Villanova in 2000.

Assistant Coach - John Bolt

John Bolt

Coach Bolt is in his third season as the Offensive Line coach. Prior to ASA, he served as an Assistant Coach with Globe Institute, University of Albany, University of New Haven, and Hudson Valley CC. Bolt also serves as the team’s Strength and Conditioning Coach.  Coach Bolt played Tight End and Defensive End at the University of Albany.

Assistant Coach- Joseph Fenelon

Joseph Fenelon

Coach Fenelon is in his second season with the Avengers after coming from prep school power Milford Academy, where he served as the program’s Defensive Coordinator. In 2008, he served as the Head Coach of Globe Institute. Prior to Globe, Coach Fenelon was an Assistant Coach at Hudson Valley CC for four years.  Coach Fenelon is a Brooklyn, NY native that played at Sheepshead Bay HS. He has excellent recruiting ties in the New York area and beyond.  Coach Fenelon played collegiately at the University of Albany.

Assistant Coach - Rashid Darrisaw

R.Darrisaw - Assistant Football Coach at ASA

Coach Darrisaw is in his third season as the Wide Receivers coach. He played collegiately at Grambling State University as a Defensive Back. Coach Darrisaw earned Second Team All-SWAC honors and played on the 2005 SWAC championship team for the Tigers.  After Grambling, he played briefly in the Arena Football League. The Bronx, NY native starred at Harry S. Truman HS and was named to the All-City team his junior and senior years.

Assistant Coach- DeMarcus White

DeMarcus White

Coach White enters his third season with ASA as the Defensive Backs coach.  He played collegiately at Iona College as a wide receiver where he was an All-MAAC First Team performer in 2007.  Coach White is very visible on the Maryland/Washington D.C. recruiting scene.

National Recruiting Coordinator- Dennis Orlando, Sr.

Dennis Orlando

Coach Orlando, Sr. is in his third season as ASA’s Defensive Line coach and Recruiting Coordinator.  He is a well-known recruiter on the New Jersey, Louisiana, and Florida circuits.  Coach Orlando has also coached many players in high school that have gone on to become Assistant and Head Coaches at major colleges and universities across the nation.
