HEAD MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH – KENNEY WILCOX

Ken Wilcox - Director and Men's Basketball Coach at ASA

Ken Wilcox is the first-ever Athletic Director and Men's Basketball coach at ASA College.
Since starting the ASA Athletics department in 2008, Coach Wilcox has overseen the creation of ten intercollegiate programs (including Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Lacrosse in 2011-12), watched his teams advance to eight Region XV Championships, winning three (Baseball – 2, Women’s Basketball – 1), boast the #1 defense in the nation (Football, 2010), earn the #7 ranking in the country (Women’s Tennis, 2010), and overall, find immediate success on the NJCAA Division I level.
As Head Coach of Avengers Men’s Basketball, Coach Wilcox has posted a 53-26 record, including three consecutive appearances in the Region XV Division Championship. Wilcox also recorded his 200th career NJCAA head coaching victory during the 2010-11 season, a road victory at Dutchess CC on 2/12/11.
Coach Wilcox has already produced a NJCAA All-American at ASA in Roberto Colonette, who received the honor in 2010. Colonette was recruited by and accepted an athletic & academic scholarship from Manhattan College.
Before succeeding at ASA, Coach Wilcox built a nationally recognized athletic department as a Coach and Athletic Director at Globe Institute of Technology. Coach Wilcox started the Globe Athletic Department in 1998 with basketball beginning as a club team and grew it into a nationally recognized program. During his last season at Globe (2007-2008), Wilcox coached the team to the Region XV Division I Men's Basketball Regular Season & Post Season Championships and helped guide them to the District III Championship Game. Coach Wilcox garnered the Region XV Coach of the Year that season to go along with his Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.
Over ten years at Globe, Coach Wilcox helped develop and grow 15 intercollegiate programs, with many teams being nationally ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). As an athletic administrator, Coach Wilcox built, at the time, the only Division I Junior College Athletic Department in the Northeast.

The early success of the ASA men's basketball program has set the tone for even bigger and better results than those Coach Wilcox experienced at Globe.  In fact, in 2008-2009, under Coach Wilcox's guidance, the ASA men's basketball team made its first Finalist appearance in the Region XV Division I Men's Basketball Championship – in only the first year of existence.

Coach Wilcox's career success in Region XV includes six regular season or postseason Regional Championship in eight years (including a streak of five consecutive). The highlight of Coach Wilcox’s career came in 2004-2005, when he led his Globe team to 'Hutch', the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, KS, while earning District III Coach of the Year honors.

Overall, Coach Wilcox has helped 25 former players move on to NCAA Division I programs, including student-athletes transferring to the Big East Conference, Conference USA, the Big 12 Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association. Over 50 players have moved on to four-year schools at other levels.  He has coached five players that have received All-American honors by numerous magazines and athletic associations, including Colonette (Manhattan ’10), back-to-back NJCAA 2nd team All-Americans Jamual Warren (Cincinnati ‘07) and Rob Robinson (Robert Morris ‘06), Jamal Nichols (DePaul ’04), Jimmie Inglis (Rutgers ‘02) and Mike McKie (St. Peters ‘01).  He also coached one of the few junior college players that had been drafted to the NBA in Victor Sanikidze from the Republic of Georgia.  He was drafted with the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks.

Welcome to ASA Athletics, home of the Avengers!
