About ASA Football

The ASA Football program was established in the fall of 2008, playing its first season in the fall of 2009.  The program is only the second current college football program in New York City.  The first – at Globe Institute – was also started under the direction of current ASA Director of Athletics, Kenney Wilcox.

The 2011 Avengers are in the midst of its third season of NJCAA competition and looking to follow up on a strong 2010 which saw them come within a game of winning the Northeast Football Conference championship in their inaugural season in the league. The team competes in the Northeast Football Conference (NFC) and fields a highly competitive schedule, including national power Dean College and local powerhouse Nassau Community College, the 2010 NFC Champion.

Head Coach Dennis Orlando and his staff have compiled a 12-6 record over the course of the last two seasons, and posted the #1 ranked team defense in the nation in 2010 (only allowing 147.3 yds/game). Because of ASA’s success, more than 20 student-athletes have gone on to NCAA institutions, including University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), Indiana University, Temple University, Bowling Green State University, Southern Mississippi and Western Michigan.
